About Luca Maffei
Luca Maffei is an Italian perfumer based in Milan and a co-founder of Atelier Fragranze Milano. Through precise material work, he gives form to emotions attached to people, places, and seasons that market categories or numbers cannot fully describe.
Career
He grew up close to raw materials and perfumers through his father Marco's career in fragrance. After studying classics and economics, Maffei entered the industry professionally in 2007 and learned both creation and business. In 2011 he founded Atelier Fragranze Milano with his father and has since worked across international brands and independent houses.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Data can inform a decision, but human emotion and a story worth telling remain at the center. Natural and synthetic materials are not treated as opponents; each belongs to the vocabulary needed for texture, projection, and duration. Moving among several projects prevents one idea from becoming overworked, while independent commissions allow room for creative risk and possible failure.
