Aldehydes and an ozonic citrus accord open with a bright, airy transparency, then settle into ambroxan, musk and a cool mineral accord. An aromatic composition built from synthetic molecules, named for Yang.
Perfumer: Luca Maffei
The theme is Yang, the solar principle, and the aromatic composition is assembled from synthetic molecules only. The fragrance pairs the strength of sunlight with the lightness of ozone, and lets aldehydes give that brightness a clean, transparent edge.
The opening is an ozonic citrus accord met by aldehydes. It reads less like squeezed fruit than like cold air on a clear day. Karismal Super and Floral Fantasy follow, adding a faint floral presence. The flowers never bloom into a bouquet; they pass through the light like a thin veil.
Ambroxan, Musk T and a mineral accord carry the drydown. Ambroxan brings a quiet warmth against the skin while the musk rounds the edges. The mineral accord adds a cool, stone-like quality, steering the whole scent toward a clean, measured finish.
A white shirt or pale colors suggest a fitting visual companion for its airy, sunlit theme. The collection name comes from Magritte's The Treachery of Images, the painting of a pipe captioned "This is not a pipe," bringing a question about words and representation into the collection’s identity.
