About Histoires de Parfums

A Parisian fragrance house founded in 2000 by Gérald Ghislain. Known for its 'stories to be read on your skin', it translates historical figures, poems, and music into bold niche perfumes.

History

Gérald Ghislain was born in Morocco and grew up in the south of France. He began his career as a chef, opening his first restaurant at the age of 22. While running restaurants in Paris, his passion for perfume grew, and in 2000 he launched his own brand.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Guided by the motto 'stories to be read on your skin', the house draws inspiration from historical figures, poetry, and music. It combines traditional French perfumery techniques with unexpected ingredients to create original and sensual compositions.

Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)

Signature collections include the Characters series, inspired by figures such as Casanova and George Sand, and the surrealist 'This Is Not a Blue Bottle' line, referencing René Magritte's famous painting.

The collection offers different entry points into its library. The gourmand character of 1969 and the spicy warmth of Ambre 114 give each story a distinct scent texture. Ghislain describes perfume as a way of sharing emotions, drawing on the same interest in sensuality and generosity that shaped his work in gastronomy.
