Encens Roi

A spicy woody incense built on olibanum and saffron. Roman chamomile and pink pepper lift the opening, while white cacao, oud, cistus and vanilla leave a sweet, cold smoke.

Encens Roi places olibanum at the center of a spicy woody composition. Roman chamomile brings a fruity, herbaceous lift, while Schinus molle adds a woody freshness that reads almost salty. The house evokes the crackling bark of incense trees releasing their resin on hot desert winds, and the opening carries that image.

Saffron unfolds against Atlas cedarwood, revealing leather and tobacco undertones with a reddish glow. Pimento berry adds a warm spiciness, so the scent feels less like a thin thread of smoke and more like resin itself, warmed and alive.

In the base, two directions cross. Oud and cistus bring a mystical darkness and balsamic warmth, while white cacao and vanilla lay down a sweet, cold smoke. The brand describes olibanum and saffron as the divine and the profane — a path of enlightenment and a path of pleasure answering each other.

A cold evening or a quiet night feels like a fitting setting for following the contrast between dry resin and sweet smoke.
