Hierba Nera

Hierba Nera imagines a sacred place hidden in the dark depths of a forest. Night sharpens the senses, and scent becomes a guide through the imagined landscape. Luca Maffei expresses that scene through green herbs, spice, resins and woods, giving the different materials a shared nocturnal setting.

Bergamot, nutmeg and a cannabis accord form the opening. Bright citrus and dry spice meet a green, herbaceous impression. Labdanum, Iso E Super, elemi, incense and Cedramber follow in the heart. The brightness of elemi, the smoke of incense and the dense warmth of labdanum are accompanied by woody materials that add depth to the resinous centre.

Atlas cedar, Texas cedar, oud and oakmoss make up the base. Dry cedar leads, with the deeper character of oud and the shaded tone of moss alongside it. The vivid herb-and-spice opening gives way to an atmosphere in which smoke, resins, woods and moss gather, recalling the darker layers of the forest.
