Blue Flame
Cool citrus, mint and anise-liqueur impressions settle into warmer herbs, resin and woods.
Perfumer: Luca Maffei
Blue Flame imagines the small glass set down at the end of a meal, with a blue flame moving within it. Luca Maffei connects cool herbs, anise sweetness and remaining warmth into an aromatic amber composition. The scene provides both its subject and its changing sense of temperature.
A twisted-lemon-peel impression leads into cool mint and dry coriander seed. Sambuca forms the heart, recalling the clear sweetness left after an anise liqueur rather than a thick sugary syrup. Mugwort leaf adds a more bitter herbal shade, with white jasmine contributing a floral element.
Vetiver and cedarwood trace a dry woody outline as benzoin brings warmth. White musk gathers the finish closer to the skin. The cooler first impression gradually gives way to a warmer setting, while the sweet herbal character remains part of the composition.
