Rose and Me is built around a character sketch: a woman who never looks back and never asks permission. Luca Maffei places this dark, woody rose among images of moonlit dances and hot summer nights. The aim is a rose with shadow rather than a pretty, sugary one.
The opening gives a heavy, bold rose the leading role. Beneath it sits a heart bouquet where geranium and jasmine are joined by saffron. Geranium adds a green, leafy edge, jasmine a dense floral sweetness, and saffron a dry, leathery warmth that darkens the rose.
The base is described as firm and clean, with dark patchouli, resinous styrax and smoky guaiac wood. Musk then envelops the whole composition in softness. What stays with the scent is less floral brightness than damp earth, resin and shaded wood, making it a choice for someone who wants rose worn heavy and deep.
