An imagined desert and the long history of fragrant resins provide Balsamir’s setting. Luca Maffei and Antoine Lie bring myrrh and balsams into a contemporary amber composition.
Somali myrrh opens with mandarin and pink pepper. Opoponax, labdanum and davana lead to Virginia cedar, tolu balsam, fir balsam and tonka bean. Dry woods support the sweeter, enveloping resinous layers. The selected 100 mL bottle combines clear rectangular glass with a gold-coloured cap and plaque.
