About Julien Rasquinet

Julien Rasquinet is a French perfumer whose work connects classical training with the sensory cultures of Paris and the Middle East. He did not grow up in the fragrance industry. After studying business, an internship in New York introduced him to fine fragrance and redirected his career toward composition. His perfumes often unfold as narratives, using contrast and movement to turn materials into a distinct place, atmosphere, or emotional memory.

Career

Early in his career Rasquinet met Pierre Bourdon and became the celebrated perfumer's final privately trained student. He also learned from Christine Nagel, then built experience as an independent creator. A long period working between Dubai and Paris broadened his understanding of Middle Eastern fragrance traditions and international markets. In 2023 he joined CPL Aromas as a senior perfumer, bringing that cross-cultural perspective to the company's fine-fragrance team.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Rasquinet treats perfume as a form of storytelling rather than a simple list of attractive ingredients. Tea, incense, leather, oud, and textured woods often provide depth, while fruit, flowers, herbs, or mineral effects introduce flashes of brightness. He is interested in the tension between heritage and modernity: a recognisable classical structure can be shifted by an unusual texture or an unexpected pairing. Travel, encounters, art, and remembered atmospheres supply the emotional starting point, but disciplined construction gives each idea clarity and projection.
