Jest imagines a warm evening with a glass of rum and an indulgent dessert, a scene of relaxed, layered sweetness.

Andrea Maack names luxury vanilla as its central raw material, and JEST is built to arrive at it. The published composition puts fruit and spice first, then a sweet floral with rum and chocolate, and ends on vanilla.

The top notes of plum and apple show two sides of fruit. Plum brings the dense sweetness of ripe flesh, while apple adds a crisp, juicy brightness. Cardamom gives the opening a cool, aromatic edge, so it does not come across as sweetness alone.

At the heart, heliotrope adds a soft floral sweetness that is often associated with almond and powder. The brand pairs it with rum and chocolate, setting the warmth of a spirit and the bittersweet depth of cocoa right beside the softness of the flower.

In the base, the vanilla is joined by Ambroxan and musk. Ambroxan is an aroma material with a dry, amber-like warmth. Together with the musk, it holds the sweetness of the vanilla close to the skin.

The perfumer is Julien Rasquinet. The scent starts with bright fruit, passes through a middle that suggests dessert and spirits, and settles onto a vanilla foundation. Since the composition is built from several layers of sweetness, try a small amount on one spot, such as the wrist. That makes it easier to follow the shift from plum and cardamom toward vanilla.
