Supernova
A spicy woody built around lavender and leather, with dry spices, conifer, vetiver and oud.
Perfumer: Julien Rasquinet
Supernova gives lavender a rebellious edge, imagining a passage from open fields into the warm maze of a Marrakech souk through leather and spice.
Andrea Maack names lavender and leather as the central materials of this scent. It opens on cardamom, cinnamon and saffron, a warm but restrained spice accord that sets a dry first outline. In the heart, lavender meets cypress oil and cedarwood, so the herb's coolness leads into green conifer and dry wood. The base brings vetiver, leather and oud: vetiver's earthy bitterness, the smoothness of leather and the shadow of oud hold everything low and steady. What defines the composition is how it places lavender, bright and clean, on the same axis as the weight of leather. It was composed by Julien Rasquinet. It suits those who prefer the dry texture of spice and wood to sweetness, and works well on cooler evenings or with a pared-back palette of clothing.
