Scent Development and Character
Enclave opens with a striking rush of cool spearmint wrapped in cardamom and cinnamon, sharpened by pink pepper CO² for a green, spicy chill over warm skin. As it develops, resinous frankincense and earthy patchouli and vetiver pull the mint into a dusk-like depth, touched by rose absolute that softens the edges. The drydown settles into a powerful amber-leather base of Amber Xtreme, labdanum and Saffiano, where the mint lingers as a cool thread, creating the sensation of cold desert air moving over heated earth.
Who It Is For and When to Wear It
On skin, Enclave is a dramatic, contrast-driven wear: the opening can feel sharply cooling and aromatic, almost metallic-minty, before the incense, patchouli and vetiver draw it into a darker, earthier register. The amber-leather base is dense and long-lasting, with Amber Xtreme projecting strongly, so a light hand is recommended, especially in warm climates or indoors. It suits evening wear and contemplative moments, but can work as a statement daytime scent in cooler seasons for those who enjoy assertive, long-lived compositions. Best suited to autumn and winter, where its cool mint–hot amber contrast and dense leather base feel atmospheric and comforting; it can work in cooler spring evenings but may be overpowering in high summer heat. Sillage is Sillage is strong to above-average: the opening projects clearly in the first few hours before settling into a persistent, noticeable trail, so it can fill a room if over-applied. Longevity is Longevity is generally long-lasting, with many wearers reporting 8–12 hours or more on skin; Amber Xtreme and resinous materials help it cling well into the drydown, especially on fabric. These are editorial estimates derived from the official composition and concentration and will vary with skin and climate.
Perfumer and Bottle
Released in 2020, this is presented as Eau de Parfum and credited to Julien Rasquinet. Enclave is presented in Amouage’s modern Odyssey Collection bottle: a squared, lacquered glass flacon in deep turquoise-blue with clean edges, topped by a matching magnetic cap and accented with metallic detailing and the Amouage crest on the front. The overall impression is of a cool desert horizon at dusk, balancing freshness and depth.
