Pavilion
A praline-and-honey opening touched with saffron, moving through rose and patchouli into vanilla, amber and an oud accord.
Perfumer: Julien Rasquinet
Pavilion imagines wrapping up in a cashmere blanket beneath the aurora borealis, translating the scene into praline, rose and oud.
Andrea Maack's Pavilion is built around rose and oud as its central materials, composed by perfumer Julien Rasquinet.
The top pairs a praline accord with honey and saffron: a toasted, nutty sweetness and the thick glow of honey, with saffron casting a dry, spiced shadow across them.
In the heart, rose meets patchouli. Rather than leaning purely floral, the earthy depth of patchouli reins in the sweetness of the opening.
The base gathers vanilla, amber and an oud accord. Vanilla and amber carry the warmth forward while the oud accord draws a darker woody outline. The two central materials sit in the heart and the base respectively, anchoring the shift from a sweet opening into layers of flower and wood.
Because the composition is sweet and dense, a light application suits an evening out, where the thread from praline to rose to oud is easiest to follow.
