Amber Aquilaria
Fruit and cinnamon lead to flowers, cognac and oud, with ambergris, sandalwood and Bourbon vanilla forming a rich woody base.
Perfumer: Julien Rasquinet
Amber Aquilaria began with Julien Rasquinet's wish to work with fine oud. Its subject is the Roman appetite for woods, spices and scented oils, expressed through a composition that brings softer flowers and the warmth of cognac to a woody centre. The current extrait de parfum appeared in 2019, combining a brighter opening with a richer, more enveloping development.
Bergamot, mandarin and peach introduce the fragrance, with cinnamon adding a warmer accent. Rose, jasmine, neroli and geranium form a floral heart around cognac. Ambergris, sandalwood, Bourbon vanilla and aquilaria oud then build the base, moving from the gentler outline of fruit and petals towards sweetness and deeper wood. Cognac acts as a bridge between those textures, giving the flower-led middle a rounder, more quietly boozy character.
Consider it for an evening outing, or when you want woods with the warmth suggested by a fine spirit. The 100mL bottle combines purple glass with a rose-gold-coloured cap and metal shoulders. A round medallion on the front carries the eagle motif and fragrance name, while the thick glass at the base reveals the colour of the liquid.
