Gladiator Oud
Dry saffron and cumin meet hay, immortelle and honey, before oud, woods and ambergris evoke the strength of a Roman gladiator.
Perfumer: Julien Rasquinet
Gladiator Oud takes its subject from the determination of Rome's gladiators and their ability to face adversity. Created by Julien Rasquinet and introduced in 2023, it interprets that strength through dry spices, sun-warmed hay and deeper woods. The composition suggests the heat and ground of an arena, with a leathery impression from saffron and a cooler, more mineral-feeling finish.
Saffron and cumin seed introduce a heart of honey, Egyptian geranium, hay absolute, Balkan immortelle absolute and cardamom. Honey softens the drier grasses and spice, while geranium adds a cooler aromatic accent. Oud, Indonesian patchouli, Atlas cedar and Haitian vetiver form the woody base, with ambergris contributing a salty impression that gives the darker materials a different sense of space.
Consider it for a cool-weather outing or an evening when you want woods with a drier, spiced character. The 100mL bottle combines purple glass with a rose-gold-coloured cap and shoulders. A purple circular medallion bears the eagle and fragrance name; the thick glass below shows both the colour of the liquid and the deeper purple of the bottle.
