Refillable Perfume from Lyon

100BON is a perfume house founded in Lyon in 2017. Its name plays on the French "sent bon", meaning "smells good".

A Founder Who Left the Majors

Founder Christophe Bombana spent a long career in perfume at houses including L'Oréal and Hermès before setting out to do things differently. He partnered with Robertet, the Grasse group specialising in natural raw materials, and the first scents went on sale in spring 2017. A perfume bar opened in central Lyon at the same time, where customers could bring their empty bottles back to be refilled.

The Scent Before the Bottle

At the outset, the fragrances used a common refillable bottle with a different label for each scent. The current range includes refill sizes as well as clear cologne bottles with coloured caps. The box is recyclable kraft paper with no cellophane. The early scents were built from essential oils, absolutes and isolates, and the official product pages mark which ingredients are natural.

Signature Scents

Musc & Jasmin is by Jean-Claude Ellena: jasmine layered with blackcurrant bud and clove, tied together by white musk. Ambre & Tonka, by Jean-Claude and Céline Ellena together, runs from mandarin and labdanum to tonka and vanilla. Bois de Mangrove, by Margaux Le Paih Guérin, is a woody scent of pineapple, bay laurel, cedar, saffron and leather.
