Neroli & Petitgrain
Childhood comfort in a cologne: juicy citrus, Tunisian neroli and white flowers, then petitgrain set against soft vanilla.
Perfumer: Serge de Oliveira
Serge de Oliveira treats this cologne as a way back into childhood, the soft, cocooned kind. Two memories come with it: a grandmother's biscuits and the skincare products of those early years. The perfumer's own note calls it Néroli & Petit Grain Printanier, adding the French word for 'springlike'.
Blood orange, lemon and mandarin open juicy and tart, and lemongrass runs a grassy line through them. Orange blossom, white flowers, Tunisian neroli and jasmine follow in a clean, freshly washed floral layer.
Petitgrain, with its bitter leaf-and-twig greenness, is kept for the base and paired with vanilla. The vanilla's soft sweetness is where the biscuit memory shows.
