Elémi & Ambre
Sand, scrubland and sun-warmed skin at midday in Provence, rendered in resins and woods.
This one starts on a summer midday in Provence, with a few minutes spent letting the sun warm the skin. In the near-stifling heat, sand, scrubland and sun-kissed skin give off a warm, rich smell. That smell is what the composition was built around.
Bergamot opens alongside elemi, a resin with a lemon-peel brightness, and a thread of incense smoke. The heart is dense with jasmine and ylang-ylang, sharpened by green geranium and the dry grain of cedar.
There is no amber listed in the pyramid; instead labdanum, vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood build a sticky, resinous warmth in the base. The French description speaks of an oriental, balsamic accord with a majestic, refined dimension.
