Davana & Vanille
A childhood memory of Lisbon pastry, told through fruity davana and warm vanilla.

Serge de Oliveira built this cologne around Lisbon. He wanted a vanilla you could almost eat, one that recalls pasteis de nata, and its sweet smell takes him back to the city's lanes on quiet days with his family as a child.
The working idea is a contrast. Davana oil, fruity with a faint herbal edge, is rounded off by a warm, appetizing vanilla. Mandarin, lychee, plum, a vegetal note and tonka bean open the scent, while rose, salicyle and jasmine sambac sit at its heart.
Cedar, amyris, patchouli and Bourbon vanilla form the base. With that dry floor of wood and patchouli under the pastry sweetness, the perfumer calls the result a modern, striking chypre.
