About Filippo Sorcinelli
Filippo Sorcinelli is an Italian artist who treats perfume as continuous with music, clothing, photography, and faith rather than as an isolated profession. His work turns toward pain, silence, and contradiction as readily as toward beauty.
Career
Born in Mondolfo in the Marche region in 1975, Sorcinelli studied art and applied arts before graduating from the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro and serving as an organist at several cathedrals. In 2001 he founded LAVS, an atelier for sacred vestments; scenting the boxes that held the garments led toward olfactory expression. His independent fragrance activity began in 2013.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Organ timbre, liturgical color, the weight of cloth, church stone, and smoke are not copied literally but translated into tension between spirit and body. Classical symbols and contemporary techniques, light and darkness, can occupy the same structure, with personal conflict left visible. Artistic freedom is inseparable from private freedom, and refusal of compromise becomes a condition of making.
