Lascia ch’io pianga
Lilac, jasmine and gardenia join tuberose and carnation, supported by Tolu balsam and musk.
Perfumer: Filippo Sorcinelli
Lascia ch’io pianga follows Filippo Sorcinelli’s movement towards personal freedom. An aria from Handel’s opera Rinaldo supplies its starting point, joining music and tears with the pursuit of freedom. The musical staff decorating the bottle carries that inspiration into the object itself.
Lilac, jasmine, gardenia, ylang-ylang and iris form the subject, tuberose and carnation the counter-subject, and Tolu balsam and musk the tail. Fuller white flowers meet the softer character of lilac and iris, while carnation adds a spicier floral expression. Resin and musk give the bouquet a warmer setting.
The composition suggests enjoying different floral textures within one bouquet. The illustrated 100mL bottle is green and rectangular, with fine white musical staff lines and small fragrance lettering. A rough grey-white angular cap provides a contrast to the green body.
