About Olfactive Studio
Olfactive Studio is a Paris fragrance house launched in September 2011 around one idea: an encounter between contemporary art photography and perfumery, between the eye and the nose.
History
Founder Céline Verleure learned perfume creation at Kenzo from her mentor, Pierre Broc, and at 28 developed Kenzo Jungle with perfumers Dominique Ropion and Jean-Louis Sieuzac. She went on to launch Osmoz.com and travelled widely, including two years in Rio de Janeiro. She then started “the blog of the fragrance that doesn’t exist (yet)!”, and more than 5,600 online fans helped shape the new house.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Perfumers get carte blanche with a photograph and are asked to sense the image and capture its essence. The house calls the results “perfumer’s proofs”: compositions made with fine raw materials and without price constraints. As founder and creative director, Verleure pairs perfumers with photographers and guides each project. The line is made for women, men and everyone else; in the house’s words, perfumes have no gender, but they have a soul.
Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)
The first trio, Autoportrait, Chambre Noire and Still Life, arrived in 2011. Later titles such as Lumière Blanche, Flash Back, Selfie and Close Up borrow freely from the vocabulary of photography.
