Chambre Noire
Dorothée Piot's sensual take on the photographic darkroom, where a flash of pink pepper draws jasmine, violet, prune and leather out of shadow.
Perfumer: Dorothée Piot
What happens in the darkroom? Mystery. Chambre Noire, composed by Dorothée Piot, is set around the photographic darkroom. There, shadows are promises, and an image has to be waited for in the dark. Cut off from the outside, something intimate and secret occurs, and a lovers' ritual takes shape. With patience and attention, the dark finally gives off light.
The fragrance follows that process. The top is pink pepper alone, and the brand likens it to a spotlight that draws the fragrance out of the shadows. What it lights up is the gloss of jasmine, the dry texture of papyrus, the powdery tone of violet, the smoke of incense and the ripe sweetness of a prune accord. Its character comes out gradually, until leathery notes surface sensually against a warm, opulent backdrop of sandalwood and vanilla.
