What sets the tone of the sweetness in Vanilla Shot is myrrh. Bertrand Duchaufour's extrait is built on a fresh and sensual richness that unfolds thanks to myrrh resin. The sweetness of Ugandan vanilla and a caramel accord takes on the resinous shading of myrrh and Vietnamese benzoin, so it never stops at confectionery.
The visual starting point is an arch suspended above Lake Wanaka in New Zealand. Thin pieces of sculpted wood, joined by floating flax threads, recall the slender, elongated shape of vanilla beans, and the image speaks of extreme balance and tension. In the scent, the dry brightness of Russian coriander, saffron and aldehydes gives the sweetness a similar tautness.
At the centre, Turkish rose and a dried fruits accord add the colour of a red flower and concentrated fruit, while Somali opoponax thickens the resinous layer beneath.
