About Jacques Fath
Jacques Fath is a Paris perfume house whose roots lie in the couture maison the designer opened in 1937, and its fragrances still draw on his glamorous, youthful sense of style.
History
Born in France in 1912, Jacques Fath dressed a young, chic Parisian clientele, and his atelier employed assistants who later founded their own houses, among them Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche and Valentino Garavani. Perfume became part of the house in the 1940s, and his work with perfumer Vincent Roubert gave it a lasting reputation. In 2008 the Panouge Group acquired the brand, and under creative director Rania Naim it introduced the Fath's Essentials Collection in 2016.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The house describes its guiding spirit as "youth, talent and joie de vivre," qualities taken from the couturier himself. The modern line pairs that spirit with contemporary perfumers, including independents Cécile Zarokian and Luca Maffei and IFF master perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault. The result leans bright and playful while respecting the structure of classic French perfumery.
Iconic Fragrances
Iris Gris, launched in 1947, disappeared in 1954, the year Fath died, and has long been remembered as a lost classic. In 2018 perfumer Patrice Revillard, working with Yohan Cervi, creative director of Maelström, reconstructed it as L'Iris de Fath, a modern interpretation built without access to the original formula. Green Water, an early aromatic citrus from the house, has also been revisited by Cécile Zarokian with a generous dose of neroli.
