Musc Couture
A musk built around fabric coming to life under the scissors, brightened by red fruit and clean linen.
Perfumer: Jean-Christophe Hérault
Musc Couture sets out to translate the pleats, flowing silhouettes and glamour of Jacques Fath's gowns into scent. Creative director Rania Naim asked perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault for a fragrance that would evoke fabric coming to life under the scissors.
The opening pairs a red banana accord and cherry, ripe and sweet, with the brisk bitterness of bergamot essence. In the heart, a clean linen accord brings the freshness of laundered cloth, while iris concrete adds a dry, powdery texture beneath it.
At the center sits a musk accord meant to mirror the smoothness of fabric against skin. The base layers musk, CO2-extracted vanilla bean, raspberry and ambrette seeds with the proprietary materials Ambertonic™ and Healingwood, giving the radiant musk a slightly animalic, enveloping side that echoes the movement in Fath's designs. Vetiver essence runs underneath as a dry, earthy line that keeps the sweetness in check.
