Vetiver Gris
A concise vetiver framed by galbanum and iris, lifted with citrus, neroli and hazelnut.
Perfumer: Jean-Christophe Hérault
Vetiver Gris is built on vetiver, galbanum and iris, as a quiet nod to the rigorous traditions of high perfumery. Neroli, mandarin and a hazelnut accord lift that structure with a bright, modern charm, and the formula stays concise, with each material given a clear role.
Mandarin essence, a hazelnut accord and bitter orange open with citrus bitterness rounded by a nutty softness. Neroli essence brightens the heart, crossed by the sharp green of Madagascan geranium essence and galbanum resinoid. Iris concrete, vetivers from Java and Haiti, and Sinfonide leave a dry, rooty finish with a powdery shade.
The fragrance grew from IFF perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault's wish to work with Jacques Fath. Moved by creative director Rania Naim's effort to bring the scent of Iris Gris back to life, he developed a vetiver accord on his own; Naim tried it, loved it and approved it. Hérault also proposed the name, a respectful and playful tribute to Iris Gris.
