History
In 1976, at the age of twenty-three, Olivier Baussan distilled rosemary in an old still and sold the essential oil at local markets. He moved production to a villa near Manosque in Volx in 1978, and the first factory and shop opened there in 1980. The company grew internationally while developing long relationships with Provençal growers, women's cooperatives in West Africa, and producers in other regions.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Place names are not intended to remain advertising scenery. The price that permits cultivation to continue, processing knowledge, biodiversity, and reductions in packaging all belong to the quality of a material. Herbs, citrus, flowers, and woods are usually made legible, then carried continuously across bathing, moisturizing, and scenting the home. The house looks at botanical beauty alongside the difficulties of responsible sourcing and asks how sustainability can be understood through the amount, touch, and frequency of products used every day.
