About Olivier Cresp

Olivier Cresp is a dsm-firmenich Master Perfumer raised in Grasse and shaped by the region's long culture of flowers and raw materials. He draws on a broad olfactory memory, then reduces it to a strong, recognizable idea executed with precision.

Career

The Cresp family has lived in Grasse since the seventeenth century. His great-grandfather cultivated roses and jasmine, while his grandfather traded natural ingredients. Cresp began his career with the company now known as dsm-firmenich in 1992, was named Master Perfumer in 2006 and Perfumer of the Year in 2007, and received the rank of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2012. He is also active as a mentor to younger perfumers.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Cresp starts by searching for a concept powerful enough to stand apart. His official profile describes a practice that is careful, finely crafted, and intended to last rather than follow noise around a trend. Memories of flowers, food, and refined materials supply abundant references, but intuition and restraint bring the final formula back to one clear proposition.
