About The Different Company

The Different Company places the perfumer's thinking and material choices at the center instead of hiding the author behind a house name. Olfactory content and the form of the bottle are designed with equal attention, while luxury is separated from disposable weight.

History

Perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena and designer Thierry de Baschmakoff founded the house in 2000, developing formulas and bottles together and making authorship explicit during the early growth of niche perfumery. Céline Ellena continued the creative work from 2005, and other perfumers have since brought distinct voices. Under Luc Gabriel's direction, the company has retained an independent identity while building an international collection.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Rare materials are not used as a display of quantity. Air and interaction remain between citrus, florals, spices, woods, and resins. Because each perfumer's handwriting is acknowledged, the collection is not forced into one dense formula. Bottles are designed for refilling and disassembly as objects intended to last. Creative freedom and environmental attention thus become practical connections among formula, signature, and the life of the object rather than separate statements.
