About Marco Genovese
Marco Genovese is a perfumer whose path into fragrance began with the trade in raw materials. He founded Creazioni Mediterranee and was involved in the subsequent formation of CreaSens. His continuing collaboration with ELECTIMUSS connects stories of ancient Rome with the cultures of other places, translating those relationships into combinations of fruit, herbs, flowers and woods.
Career
In his own account, he began working with raw materials at Chiminord in 1989. Discovering their different origins deepened his interest in perfumery and led him to complete a perfumery course at Givaudan. He established Creazioni Mediterranee in 2000; its merger with Cerizza created CreaSens in 2010. His collaboration with ELECTIMUSS began in 2014, following a meeting during a perfume project in the Middle East.
Creative Style & Philosophy
His creative aim is to evoke memories and emotions as well as to make a pleasant fragrance. He values the different interpretations that a single composition can prompt through each person’s experience. In Moroccan Medjool, the sweetness of dates meets brighter citrus and flowers to explore connections between Rome and the Middle East. The relationship between gourmand richness, fresher accents and wood also provides a wider view of his approach to materials.
