About Anne Flipo

Anne Flipo creates luminous florals and accessible structures through a quiet rigor that repeatedly questions a handwritten formula rather than allowing brightness to collapse into easy sweetness. Whether working alone or collaboratively, she seeks strong signature, emotion, and lasting wearability at the same time.

Career

Flipo grew up in a village in Picardy, northern France, surrounded by gardens and natural smells. She studied perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles, gained experience within the fragrance industry, and joined IFF in 2003. Across more than thirty-five years she has worked for both large and independent houses and became an IFF Master Perfumer. The Fragrance Foundation honored her with its Lifetime Achievement Perfumer award in 2023.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Orange blossom, white florals, greenery, fruit, and woods are handled as light expanding outward. Bitterness or synthetic sharpness may sit inside an optimistic impression, distinguishing memorability from simplicity. Writing formulas with pencil and paper helps her retain a physical sense of the amount and purpose of each material. In collaboration, different strengths are not averaged away; they are edited toward one clear structure.

Signature Works

  • *Libre* — Lavender and orange blossom hold coolness and heat together in a collaborative structure.
  • *L'Interdit* — White florals and dark woods leave tension beneath brightness in a co-created composition.
  • *Midnight Musk & Amber* — Musk, juniper, and amber form the light of a celebratory night.
