Azurée Legacy is a woody aromatic fragrance that opens on cardamom's freshness alongside basil and tarragon, a green, herbal start. The original Azurée was inspired by the Mediterranean warmth of Mrs. Estée Lauder's vacation home near Cap d'Antibes on the French Riviera, and that sun-warmed setting still frames this version.
Perfume editor Frédéric Malle reimagined the scent, keeping the essence of the original while adding cumin for a more modern sensuality. In the heart, jasmine meets clove and clary sage, so the floral sweetness is held in check by spice and a dry, herbal bitterness.
The dry down gathers patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, cumin and leather. Sandalwood and leather lend depth and heat, while cumin brings a skin-close warmth that wraps around the herbs. The brand also describes the minerality of seaside rocks, an image of something arid and verdant at once.
