Private Collection Legacy
A floral green led by a basil, tarragon and galbanum accord, with rose and jasmine adding color.
Perfumer: Anne Flipo
Private Collection Legacy is built around the green accord carried over from the original. In Frédéric Malle's reimagining, that signature accord is allowed to shine, backed by rose and jasmine in a contemporary way.
The top green accord combines basil, tarragon and galbanum. Basil brings herbal freshness, tarragon a slightly anise-like sweet greenness, and galbanum a sharp, bitter green edge; together they draw a clear, assertive outline.
Jasmine sambac and rose at the heart add color to that green, which the brand pictures as a maze of blazing green streaked with color. The dry down lists patchouli, sandalwood, oakmoss and musk: earthy patchouli, the shade of oakmoss and smooth woody warmth settle the green brightness into something deeper.
Malle calls it a contemporary perfume with a strong signature. The brand places it in the rich floral family and labels it Floral Green. The bottle is a substantial fluted glass cylinder with a heritage rope detail, presented in a legacy blue box.
