About Anaïs Biguine
Anaïs Biguine is a self-taught French perfumer who founded Jardins d'Écrivains, a house dedicated to translating literature and gardens into scent. Her work is driven by a deep personal connection to writers and their worlds.
Career
Before perfumery, Biguine worked as an art director and photographer in the beauty industry. After beginning with candles, she launched her first perfume, *George*, in 2012. The idea for the brand crystallized during a visit to Victor Hugo's house in Guernsey with her daughters, where the fragrance of the garden left a profound impression.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Biguine studies literary characters and the lives of writers before translating an atmosphere into scent. Houses and gardens matter to her because of the ways they encourage imagination and leave a personal impression. Her background in photography offers a related way of thinking: both an image and a fragrance can give a story a setting and bring its mood to life. She describes literature as an enduring source to return to and read differently over time.
Signature Works
- *George* — an homage to George Sand, her first perfume, carrying her attachment to the writer and the landscape of Nohant.
- *Wilde* — a fresh interpretation of Oscar Wilde's youthful dandyism, built on bergamot, carnation, fig, and raisin.
