Heresy
Free thought and desert journeys across the Arabian Peninsula inspire incense, woods and violet.
Perfumer: Anaïs Biguine
Heresy takes inspiration from free thought and the desert journeys associated with incense. The brand connects its name with ancient schools of thought, such as the garden of Epicurus, making the enjoyment of freedom a starting point for the fragrance.
Another image is the long journey across the Arabian Peninsula. Treasures carried to the foot of altars provide a setting for a composition centred on incense. Presented as an eau de parfum, it combines this ritual theme with ideas of travel and thought, rather than treating incense solely as an isolated material.
Pepper and incense form the top, bringing spicier impressions together with the character of burning incense. Cedar, sandalwood and violet make up the heart. Drier wood meets a rounder, softer wood texture, while violet adds a powdery floral expression between them.
Vetiver, patchouli and guaiac wood form the base. Rooty, earthy textures and an impression of smouldering wood connect with the incense smoke. Softer flowers appear within a composition that moves from spice toward wood and earth, continuing the desert and incense imagery through different aromatic textures.
