About Chapel Factory
Chapel Factory is a French fragrance house created by perfumer Anaïs Biguine. With a deep passion for the history of religions and the spiritual language of perfume, the brand explores incense—a material present in all sacred traditions—as a source of inspiration for resolutely contemporary creations.
History
Anaïs Biguine, already the creator of Jardins d'Écrivains, established Chapel Factory to explore the ancestral, noble, and symbolic material of incense. Her vision is to open a dialogue between spiritual heritage and modern creation, bridging the sacred and the contemporary through scent.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The starting point for Chapel Factory is the belief that incense is a universal language. The brand reinterprets this ancient material with a modern sensibility, crafting perfumes that honor spiritual traditions while feeling contemporary. Resins and woods can take on floral, mineral, or gourmand textures across the collection. Art also plays a role: from the outset, the house has drawn inspiration from works such as Rogier van der Weyden's painting *The Woman with the Cornette*, translating its spectral whiteness into perfume.
Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)
Signature scents include Holy Stick Eau de Parfum, inspired by shamanic rituals using Palo Santo, and Scapular Extrait de Parfum, which evokes the sacred undergrowth at the foot of Mount Carmel. Idolatry explores a sweeter direction through black vanilla and incense. The brand also offers candles and fumigation incense, extending its work beyond personal fragrance, and has a boutique in the Marais district of Paris.
