About L’Orchestre Parfum

L’Orchestre Parfum is a Paris fragrance brand founded in 2017 by Pierre Guguen, who shapes its concept while perfumers compose the scents and musicians write the music that accompanies them.

History

Guguen played in bands for years alongside a career in fragrance development that began at Comme des Garçons. With his Catalonia-based band, he asked a perfumer friend to translate one of their songs into a scent, which the band shared with the audience on blotters while performing it, and the experiment continued on stages in Paris and Barcelona. The brand itself was launched on a winter evening in 2017 at a Paris concert that combined live music, fragrance and drawing.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The guiding question is what music smells like. Guguen visited more than ten instrument workshops, from Paris to Essaouira, collecting the scents of cedar guitar wood, varnish, trombone brass and percussion skins; perfumers then paired these with fragrance materials, and musicians composed a piece for each scent in complete freedom. The brand describes its fragrances as made in France and 100% vegan, using natural alcohol from French beets, and it takes part in Démos, the Philharmonie de Paris program that opens music education to children.

Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)

Early creations such as Rose Trombone and Flamenco Néroli were composed by Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel, while Piano Santal, a milky, woody scent, is the work of perfumer and pianist Jean Jacques.
