Vétiver Overdrive

An amplified wood inspired by a blues at daybreak, sliding from bergamot and geranium through vetiver to cedar, ambroxan and musk.

Vétiver Overdrive begins on a night drive from New Orleans to Nashville at 5:47 AM, as day barely breaks over the Mississippi Delta and a blues plays on the radio. Its core idea is the blue note and the contrast it draws between light and darkness, joy and melancholy.

The scent follows that contrast. Aromatic, luminous bergamot and geranium lead into a vetiver chord that slides toward the low, deep frequencies of cedar, ambroxan and musk. Citrus brightness and the green, rosy edge of geranium give way to earthy vetiver, then to dry wood and a warm, ambery hush.

The house sums it up as an amplified wood: woody, aromatic, electric. Overdrive is also the name of a guitar effect that pushes sound into distortion, a fitting echo of that phrase.

The fragrance was composed by Flair Studio, with music by Nashville-born Justin Johnson, described as the wizard of American roots blues guitar.
