A chypre of ume, shiso and narcissus over hinoki and oud incense, shaped by a concept of parting and of a night sky that still connects.
YOI takes parting as its subject. Its concept accepts that farewells come sooner or later, looks up at the sky on a night wet with tears, and holds that people on different paths stay connected under the same sky. Within the early-spring ume-and-Tokyo series, it turns toward night and sky, and like every fragrance in the line it has its own original soundtrack by an artist.
The brand classes it as a chypre built on shiso, ume, narcissus and hinoki. Ume and shiso sit at the top with lemon and bergamot: the ume note beside the green, cool leaf of shiso. AHRES says the bite of ume, shiso and pepper lifts the opening.
Jasmine, narcissus and rose form the middle with black pepper; narcissus adds a dense floral note with a green edge. The base gathers cypress, vetiver, patchouli, civet and agarwood, which the brand describes as a mysterious incense of hinoki and oud. Earthy vetiver and patchouli and animalic civet deepen it, so a scent that begins with ume and green shiso settles into heavy, incense-like woods.
