About Shyamala Maisondieu
Shyamala Maisondieu is a Givaudan perfumer shaped by a Malay and Indian family and the multilingual, multicultural environment of Malaysia. Culture is not reduced to decorative symbols but enters formulas as overlapping experiences of food, florals, ritual, and city life.
Career
Born in Malaysia, Maisondieu studied chemical engineering in London. While working in Hong Kong she discovered perfumery as a profession that could connect scientific knowledge with creativity. She trained at Givaudan's schools in Grasse and Argenteuil and has since spent more than thirty years creating international fine fragrance within the company.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Science does not suppress sensation; it provides a frame in which several powerful materials can remain stable together. Memories of tropical florals, fruit, spice, and woods are adjusted to the culture of a brief and the life of its wearer. Her background is not imposed as a fixed signature but used to turn plural perspectives into a new balance.
