About Maurizio Cerizza
Maurizio Cerizza is an Italian master perfumer associated with CFF. His family entered the aromatic-material business in 1946, giving him early contact with natural ingredients, distillation equipment, and the guarded absolutes of a working fragrance company.
Career
He trained with René Ricord at the Roure school, learning the material-memory and olfactory-family method developed around Jean Carles’s teaching. A 1986 Roccobarocco fragrance is documented as an early success in a career spanning many compositions.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Cerizza argues that a perfume is born first in the perfumer’s mind and can be written on paper before any oil is mixed. He develops extensive theory but tries not to think about it consciously while creating, leaving space for memory and intuition.
This balance between stored knowledge and instinct lets him move confidently across contrasting materials. Spices, fruit, flowers, woods, musks, and modern accords can be organized with clarity, while the final formula retains movement and an immediate sensory identity.
