About Off-White™

Off-White™ is a label founded by Virgil Abloh in 2013, with a design studio in Milan that draws on Italian craftsmanship while keeping a global perspective.

History

Born in Rockford, Illinois, Abloh studied civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison before completing a master's in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where a curriculum devised by Mies van der Rohe shaped his design principles. He conceived Off-White™ as a multi-platform creative endeavor, with fashion as the main medium but ideas drawn from streetwear, luxury, art, music and architecture. Abloh later also served as Men's Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, and in 2019 the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presented a major traveling survey of his work.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The brand describes its aim as defining the grey area between black and white as a color. Seasonal collections for men and women, along with objects, furniture and publications, seek to connect how clothes are actually worn with the artistic expression of high fashion. The beauty line carries that outlook into products meant for self-expression regardless of age, race or gender.

Iconic Fragrances

Off-White™ Beauty launched in 2022 with four SOLUTION fragrances, No.1 to No.4, and its FW22 drop added PAPERWORK boxes built around touch, sight and smell. In 2024 five scents, SOLUTION No.6 to No.10, joined the line, created with four perfumers including Steve Guo and Sidonie Lancesseur and presented in chrome 50 ml bottles designed by makeup artist and creative director Isamaya Ffrench.
