About Hellenist
Hellenist is a French-made fragrance house inspired by the landscapes and cultural heritage of Greece. It brings scent and art together around a simple idea: stories and places from the past can remain present in the memories people carry with them.
History
Founder Jean-David Jacoby first encountered Greece on a childhood family trip to Santorini, an experience that developed into a lasting attachment to its islands and the Aegean. After more than twenty years working in luxury and fragrance, he launched Hellenist in 2024 to bring that connection into perfume.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Greek mythology provides a starting point for fragrances concerned with remembered places, sensations and shared moments. Paper, wood, glass and ceramic give the objects a deliberately simple material character, while rounded forms and illustrations by Carlo Amen connect the packaging with a wider Mediterranean artistic vocabulary. The relationship between a perfume and its visual setting is part of the house's approach to telling each story.
Iconic Fragrances
Les Dieux aux Bains imagines a bathing scene involving Aphrodite and Adonis, while Le Chant d'Achille draws on the story of Achilles and flowers carried on a salty breeze. Different perfumers contribute individual interpretations to the collection, giving its shared mythological setting a range of floral, woody, aquatic and ambery expressions.
