les bras de Morphée
An iris fragrance conceived as an embrace, combining powdery softness with green leaves and warm woods.
Perfumer: Suzy Le Helley
Conceived as an embrace, les bras de Morphée takes its name from the arms of Morpheus, the god of dreams. Founder Jean-David wanted a soft, enveloping fragrance, and Suzy Le Helley responded by exploring several contrasting facets of iris.
Violet leaf opens alongside peach and heliotrope accords. Iris forms the centre with violet and hazel wood accords, while vanilla, tonka bean and Cashmeran provide sweetness and woody warmth in the base.
The softness has a powdery texture, but also a green and root-like side. Le Helley describes using touches of vetiver to reinforce the woody, earthy facets. Rather than treating iris as a sweet flower alone, the composition connects its powderiness with leaves, roots and wood, giving the imagined embrace a more varied texture.
