la nuit des 300 is set in Thebes on the eve of battle. As the torches dim, two men of the Sacred Band share warmth and breath. The story centres on their closeness as much as on the courage associated with battle.
Maurice Roucel translated the meeting of metal and skin into fragrance. Lavender and artemisia suggest bitter wild herbs, with bergamot adding a brighter accent. A light aldehydic impression evokes armour catching the evening light as the mountains release the day's heat.
Musks including ambrettolide and Muscenone are joined by ambroxide, tonka bean and sandalwood, building a warmer texture around the herbs. Dry aromatic greenness and a soft, skin-like warmth remain side by side, giving the composition its particular balance of resolve and intimacy.
