le chant d’Achille
Inspired by Madeline Miller’s novel, with orange blossom and musks alongside warm, salty immortelle.
Perfumer: Alexandra Carlin
le chant d’Achille began with a gift: Jean-David gave Alexandra Carlin Madeline Miller’s novel of the same name. The perfumer set out to translate the sensuality of its language and the sensations it evokes into fragrance.
Orange blossom forms the centre, resting on musks and alternating between softness and strength. Neroli, lemon and black pepper give the opening brightness, while geranium and ylang-ylang add further floral dimensions.
Warm, salty immortelle refers to the Mediterranean and offers a playful allusion to Achilles’ vulnerable heel. Vetiver and white musk support the base; Carlin also describes a fougère impression created by geranium and moss. Floral and aromatic facets give the fragrance a way to hold both strength and tenderness within its portrait of the hero.
