Rock River Melody starts from materials long associated with men's cologne and steers them somewhere unexpected. Alia Raza, the brand's founder, asks you to picture rushing water wearing riverbed stones smooth, and the scent follows that image: wild and moving, but without sharp corners.
The opening is all leaf and bite: Hedera ivy, the bitter snap of galbanum, and bergamot for light. It reads like ivy climbing cedar trunks, with fresh sap underneath.
In the heart, green sap meets patchouli, narcissus and rose, and the mix takes on a faintly leathery, animal shadow. The base turns smooth, with sandalwood and cedar given an ambery, musky polish.
