Original Oud

Alberto Morillas approaches oud through both a named woody-leather material and an essence from Laos in Original Oud. Woodleather provides the centre of the composition, introduced by the house as a way of bringing together oud’s different expressions. The resulting theme is the encounter between a strong woody character and warm leather.

The imagined setting is a Laotian forest, with light reaching through gaps in the trees. The house also uses a chessboard as an image for the contrast between pale woods and darker gurjum balsam, giving the materials a shared visual setting.

Bourbon geranium and green cardamom form the opening, combining floral and herbal impressions with a vivid green spice. Gurjum balsam, Woodleather and iris absolute follow in the heart. Iris adds softness to the resinous and leathery centre.

Z11, Limbanol, Sri Lankan sandalwood essence and oud essence from Laos make up the base. The depth of woods and balsam is accompanied by flowers and spice, expressing the changes between light and shade in the imagined forest.
