Pavillon Rouge
A sweet, smoky blend of whisky and rum warmth layered with leather, tobacco and coffee.
Perfumer: Marie Schnirer
Pavillon Rouge opens with a harbour scene: a schooner coming in to dock as daylight fades, and a buccaneer drawn ashore by the amber and vanilla aromas of rum and whiskey before slipping into the crowd. Jovoy frames the scent as an ode to life, adventure and conquest.
Perfumer Marie Schnirer says she wanted an addictive, warm, enveloping and comforting note. She built it like a tobacco-vetiver, with an opening that recalls a fine whisky through spicy, peaty and liqueur-like markers.
The top notes of whisky, sesame, rum and spices bring toasted nuttiness and the sweet heat of spirits. Leather, tobacco, coffee and tea fill the heart with bitterness and the depth of dried leaves. In the base, ebony wood, vanilla and benzoin melt resinous sweetness into dark wood, finishing on vanilla, musky and amber notes.
